Jenny just ignored him. he was more strict than 10 was thats for sure, but she hadnt really known, seeing as she only knew him for a day.
"i guess." Jenny only shrugged. she didnt really know what any of it meant. thats when she had thought to ask him. "so who were the time lords?"

"Brave heart, Jenny!" the Doctor smiled warmly. "so who were the time lords?" The Doctor stared at her in disbelief. Not about her curiosity, but how could bring up a topic like that as if she was asking 'Who were the Wednesday Cricket Club?' Sure he wasn't his people's number one fan but their extinction was not anything, he could comfortably presume, any one of him had ever desired. "S... sorry?" he asked, almost thinking he'd misheard.

"oh you heard me." Jenny laughed. she then stated "when we were on Messaline, you mentioned Time lords, i know i am one, but who were they, i mean i want to learn more." Jenny tried to explain it to the Doctor.

How was this funny? "when we were on Messaline, you mentioned Time lords, i know i am one, but who were they, i mean i want to learn more." "Well, ah, you're not one, not really," he replied, not unkindly, still a little shaken. "I mean, I suppose you are the closest... ah! Time Lords generally go into the Academy, you see, we're usually engineered for the task, of, of travelling through time and, and regeneration, stare into the schism. All things you don't want happening to you, really!" With that he pushed his hand into his pocket, pulled out some money and barely managed to not run out of the café. As soon as he got outside, he took a deep breath.

Jenny Listened to him talk about time lords. he seemed upset about it it. Jenny watched him walk out the door after paying and wondered if she said something offensive. she stood up and walked out as well. "sorry." was all she managed to get out. She didnt want him upset, just wanted to learn more, know more anyway.

With what seemed like a mammoth effort, the Doctor pulled himself together with another deep breath and turned around. "Yes, well, perhaps I overreacted. The news is rather... recent for me, you understand." He looked away, apparently looking around the surroundings. The buildings were red brick. People walking this way and that, some of them with phones and some of them listening to their CD players. "Oh, dear," he said with a sigh, apparently seeing something.

"i forgot i am not talking to your future self." Jenny shrugged. she didnt think he over reacted at all. it wasnt good news at all. She looked around when he had said 'oh dear'. Jenny tried to fugure out what he was looking at and she then asked "what?"

"i forgot i am not talking to your future self." "Yes," the Doctor breathed at length. "CD players, Jenny, weren't invented until the 1990's," he pushed his hands into his trouser pockets. "When you find technology ahead of its time, it's usually not a good sign." He then stepped out in front of a runner who stopped with a sigh. "Excuse me, can you help me?" She sighed, pulling the sockets from her ears. She checked out the pair of them. "Brother and sister?" she asked. "No. Father and daughter, actually," he added as an afterthought. "Age well, don't you?" she smirked. "Yes, I do, thank you," he replied quickly. "May I ask? Where did you get that... ah, device?" "Electronic shop!" she grinned. The Doctor rose his eyebrows. "That way," she pointed. "Marksons. Get it free too, if your daughter plays her cards right." The Doctor immediately frowned in response to that. The woman smiled and pulled something out of her... shirt. "Speaking of cards. Call me, if you have any more questions?" The Doctor took the card in all innocence. "Thank you... Rachel." "I'm great with kids," she added before continuing on her jogging. "Right," he said to Jenny. "Shall we check this out, or would you prefer to go back to the TARDIS?"

Jenny looked at her father curiously. cd players? Jenny was used to seeing everyone holding what they called I-Pods. Jenny listened to him. “then how did it get here?” she asked before the Doctor went to talk to some woman. She started talking to her father in words she didn’t quite understand. It looked like the Doctor did and with the face he had made, she meant something bad. Jenny then realized what she meant and made a face as well. Jenny smiled and answered “check it out!” she was happy about being able to problem solve now.

“then how did it get here?” "Well, exactly," he replied. The Doctor nodded, even as he thought that he was going to send her right back to the TARDIS if things got too rough. Of course, that had never worked with his companions lately but he wasn't finished trying just yet. "Well, like she said, this way," he started to walk in the direction indicated. Marksons looked like a busy shop, people were obviously keen. Word of mouth had apparently gotten around.

Jenny smiled when she started walking with the Doctor. When the shop came into view, Jenny saw tons of people. “I guess these things must be popular now.” she shrugged. Jenny looked over at the Doctor to see his reaction to all this. “so what are we going to do?”

“so what are we going to do?” "Well, we could yell 'fire'," the Doctor suggested as joke. He also considered picking someone's pocket, though these players were likely to be noticed. Also, he didn't want to set a bad example for Jenny quite this soon. "Perhaps we should try the back. Whatever's afoot might be back there anyway."

Jenny looked at him and nodded. “I like the first idea better.” she joked. She watched all the people pushing each other for a simple CD player. She wondered if it was like this when the first Ipod was introduced. She then said “back is always best, I don’t even think we could get through the front.”

“I like the first idea better.” The Doctor smiled at her. “back is always best, I don’t even think we could get through the front.” "Not immediately," he agreed. "Come on," he said, making his way slowly towards the back. He raised his eyebrow, apparently this had come so popular that a small crowd had begun to gather at the back as well. The Doctor's jaw hardened. This wasn't right. He pressed on. "Come on, buddy!" one of them protested. "Stay in line!" "I can help you get in, if you want me to," he replied. The crowd considered this. "Let him through." They were very desperate. The Doctor's misgivings grew.

Jenny laughed. Jenny followed him to the back of the building, where even more people were gathering. Jenny looked around and wondered what was so special about this place, or these CD players and then she realized that everyone got excited over new technological advances. She looked at the roof and then to the Doctor. “up is always better than down.” Jenny shrugged with a smile. "unless you have a better idea." she added.
